Doors

Introduction:
Sometimes you may find yourself in a situation where your path to another room is barred by a fearsome door. These doors may require opening, unlocking, or destroying to get to the other side.

Syntax:
OPEN <name of door>
CLOSE <name of door>
LOCK <name of door>
UNLOCK <name of door>
ATTACK <name of door>

Opening and Closing:
Opening and closing doors is accomplished using the OPEN and CLOSE commands. You can use them in two different ways: The first is by typing the name of the door in the arguments. To open a wooden door, for example, you type: OPEN WOODEN DOOR. The other way is to type the name of the destination. If you know the wooden door leads to Joe's Bar and Grill, you can type: OPEN JOE'S.

Locking and Unlocking:
Locking and unlocking doors is accomplished in the same way as opening and closing. Simply type LOCK or UNLOCK followed by the name of the door of the destination of the door. If you have the proper key (or you are the key, as is the case with biometric locks), the door will be unlocked.

Attacking Doors:
Certain doors, such as those protecting key areas of a starship, will be able to be destroyed in order to gain admittance. Most normal combat commands apply to doors, so you simply attack it as you would another player. For more information, please see HELP COMBAT.

Automatic Opening/Closing/Locking/Unlocking:
In order to minimize inconvenience, your character will try to automatically unlock and open doors and lock and close them behind him/her. In the previous examples of Communicators Are Us, you could simply type GO COMMUNICATORS or GO WOODEN DOOR and your character would open and close it. If you have the key to a door, you will also unlock and lock it automatically.

Locating Doors:
You will see doors listed in the room's description. Alternatively, you can simply type GO to attempt to go through the first available door. However, there may be multiple doors in one location, so be careful using this method.
