Policy 2: Newbie

The administrators of Stellaris feels very strongly about protecting newbies. Without new players, a game quickly begins to decay until nothing is left but a mass of unutilized code. As such, newbies to the game will be afforded a two day initiation period. This period is counted as the time you're connected and does not include times when you're offline, so be sure to disconnect when you won't be playing. During this time, a player will be indicated as a newbie via an [N] tag next to their name on the @who list and in starship scans.

When a new player is under the [N] tag, you may NOT attack this person unless they have done something to warrant such an attack. It remains up to the hosts to determine if your reasoning for attacking a newbie is sound, but you can be certain that if the newbie attacked either you or your ship that it is safe to retaliate.

The newbie tag does not give more experienced players the right to use the newbie as a shield. You should not take advantage of this by using a newbie's ship to avoid conflict with other players or by taking cover behind a newbie so that they will take the brunt of an attack. You should also not intentionally lead a newbie into a conflict that they may not understand or be ready for.

Finally, please be courteous to newbies and help them out. If a new player asks a question, even something that is painfully obvious to you, do NOT mislead them and/or give them false information. If you mislead a newbie into getting killed or losing a ship, you will be penalized as described below.

Punishment: The first infraction will result in the loss of [TO BE REPLACED]. The second offense will result in your isolation in the conference room until you have had the chance to read this policy. You will also experience another [TO BE REPLACED]. If you continue to disregard this policy, you will be permanently banned from the game.
